Community Involvement –
In addition to providing a safe and fun environment, NEDP is committed to helping our children learn to be responsible community members. Over the years, NEDP has engaged in numerous projects and events designed to help local charities such as Needham Cares and the Needham Community Council, as well as larger charities such as Rosie’s Place, Project Linus, and Project Bread.
NEDP is located at all five Needham elementary schools: Broadmeadow, Eliot, Hillside, Mitchell and Newman. Before school programming is offered at Broadmeadow, Eliot, Mitchell and Newman. Space is rented from the Needham Public Schools.
Communication is Key –
NEDP feels communication is the foundation of quality programming. We work closely with KASE teachers, gym teachers, reading specialists, guidance counselors, and classroom teachers at our various sites to ensure smooth transition times as well as resolve any issues or concerns. An open door policy is our practice with all families. Drop by the program at any time, attend a board meeting or join us on a field trip.
Social & Emotional Learning –
Each of our staff is trained in the Responsive Classroom® approach to learning, which enables us to reinforce the social lessons learned in Needham classrooms in our before and after school programs. This ensures continuity of behavioral expectations and teaching methods from the school day to NEDP. We are fully committed to promoting educational, social, parental and community involvement.
